Nestucca Valley Community Alliance was awarded the Community Organization of the Year Award by the Pacific City/Nestucca Valley Chamber of Commerce at their annual banquet on Tuesday, December 3.
This award was given in recognition of the 20+ community members who had the vision, initiative, and ingenuity, to lead the way to convert commercial property to community use. About 5 years ago, a group of South County folks had a vision and met for months in private living rooms to come up with a plan to convert the Cable Landing Station Property on Cape Kiwand Drive to a park. They saw an opportunity to form a meaningful partnership with Tillamook Lightwave and these community members formed the Nestucca Valley Community Alliance to carryout their vision.
Today NVCA, a 501(c)3 organization, has signed a 49 year lease with Tillamook Lightwave for 2.1 acres of the cable landing station and a revokable license for 0.3 acres of the property. Much more work needs to be done to make the park a reality but this is an important milestone.
NVCA’s mission is to promote recreational and educational venues in South County – If you would like to help, please contact us at email@example.com
