So where is the community park location – in Pacific City? Sometimes we are so close to the project that we forget that there are folks just joining us. Here is the location.
The park property is located at 33395 Cape Kiwanda Drive in Pacific City. It is located on the East side of Cape Kiwanda Drive just South of the RV Park and Doryland Pizza. It is a short walk from the businesses at the Cape.
The park is 2.4 acres primarily on the South end of the old Cable Landing Station Property. A fence was completed in June 2014 that divides the property in half. TLW – Tillamook Lightwave – an intergovernmental organization owns the property and is leasing NVCA the 2.4 acres for $10/year for 49 years. The lease was signed in November, 2013.
The plans for the park include a children’s playground, picnic areas, a small amphitheatre for education projects, covered and uncovered activities areas and a skate park. In addition it will be the trailhead and public access to the BLM trail system proposed for the property just East of the Park Property.
TLW was formed to bring the benefits of high speed, low coast broadband service to Tillamook County. Their website is http://www.tillamooklightwave.net They operate a landing station on the north side of the property and are leasing space to the University of Washington for UW Ocean Observaties Institute (OOI) research cable operations.
