Come join us for a board meeting on Wednesday September 10 at 6:30 pm at the Kiawanda Community Center – we are in the Fireside Room –
Many things in progress at NVCA – come hear the details and get involved.
- On September 19-21 – the Cape Kiwanda Longboard Classic will be held. As you know CKLC is now an adhoc fundraising committee for NVCA – all funds raised at the Longboard Classic will go toward the Skate Park.
- The site committee is evaluating 3 proposals from designers for a final concept plan for the park
- Clearing the park area – The park development committee is looking into the best method to clear the debris in the park itself.
- The fence is done and we are pleased to report the gate is also completed – drove by yesterday and saw that the gate rail has been installed.
- The Science Camp was a great success this year with over 70 children participating. NVSD is working with NVCA board members on additional opportunities.
As you are aware we need help. NVCA is a grass roots – all volunteer organization and our mission is to promote recreational and educational opportunities in South County. We need folks who want to be involved with talents from all areas. We are looking for board members, committe members for the park, site planning and fund raising. We need people with all skills – computer, writing, organizing, grand writing, event planning.
Come to the meeting on Wednesday and meet the board – let us know if your are interested – go to our website at www.nestucca.org
or just send us an e-mail to email@example.com
hanks for a great community effort. Over 40 folks and organizations gave their support to the park fence in just over 4 weeks. Thanks also for the matching fund and the contribution for the Cape Kiwanda Longboard Classic. TLW and Coast Com also helped in a big way – they received an alternative bid that was lower than the original estimate. Still planning on contributing. All donations through April 30th will be recognized in the ONE FOOT AT A TIME campaign and your name will be included on the fence sign, if you wish.
With that we have asked that construction of the fence to be started. It may take a few weeks to schedule but it is in the works.
Now the fun and the work begins! There are a number of components of the park including playground equipment and a skate. Planning is essential and that will begin soon.
Are you interested in helping? Do you have talents that can be an asset to planning a park? Let us know – just go to the Volunteer Page and submit your name. We will get in touch with you.
