NVCA Parking Area Opens in Cape Kiwanda

We did it!  We achieved our initial goal to provide overflow parking for the Cape Kiwanda area.

The first phase of the community park has been completed and NVCA opened the area to parking last weekend on June 23 and June 24 – when the weather was its hottest in the Valley.    A number of folks used the parking area and expressed appreciation for a safe place to park so close to the Cape.

The park operates on the honor system.    We expect folks using the parking lot will show respect for the property, the neighbors and the community.   NVCA encourages donations from people parking in the area – there is a drop box for those donations.   A $5 minimum donation is suggested.   All donations are used for the further development of the park.   Our next goal:  a children’s playground.

We hope that Pacific City businesses and residents around Cape Kiwanda appreciate this additional parking area and encourage its use.   Now this weekend –  July 1 –  Fireworks in Pacific City –  through July 4.   The Parking lot will be open Saturday through Tuesday from 8 am to 7 pm when the park will be closed and the gate locked.

NVCA is an all -volunteer organization.   The ability to open the parking lot to the community is wholly dependent on volunteers.   We are reaching out for additional help to keep this up as a service to the community.    There are simple tasks:  unlock and open the gate, close the park and lock the gate, and someone can occasionally walk through the lot as a monitor.  These activities take only minutes and do not have to be the same person.

Anyone can volunteer.  So if you are a resident, a property owner, a business owner in the local area or just love to visit Pacific City for the weekend, please consider helping NVCA in providing this service.

Contact NVCA at nvcainfo@gmail.com.

Also feel free to join us at our next meeting on July 13 at Kiwanda Community Center at 6 PM.    Bring your thoughts and ideas and meet the volunteers who worked so hard to make this happen.

Happy New Year – Let’s Celebrate!!!

Hope all have had a wonderful Christmas Holiday.

2016 has been a great year for NVCA  – we received a  grant to develop a gravel parking lot for the Community Park.  We will be able to use this for overflow parking for key events in Pacific City in 2017.   The contractor has been selected and the contract signed – work will be scheduled in the first half of 2017.

NOW IT IS TIME TO CELEBRATE!!!rockhounds

The Sportsman’s Pub-N-Grub is throwing a  New Year’s Eve Party.logo

on Saturday December 31 from 9 PM to 1AM.

The ROCKOUNDS will be playing  Rock and Roll music from the 50’s, to the 80’s.

Come and join the fun and dance the night away

A portion of the proceeds of this event will be contributed to NVCA for the completion of the parking lot for the community park.

NVCA needs to raise about $5,500  for amenities for the parking lot, like signage, striping, a radio controlled gate and more over the next few months and this will be a good start in  achieving that goal.

Can’t make the party but would like to help.  Donations can be made at our website at www.nestucca.org.    Or perhaps you would like to contribute your time.   We are in need of volunteers with various skills.   Come join our team and let’s make this park a reality.

Giving Tuesday

FlyerPhotoToday is Giving Tuesday – that time of year to remember your favorite charities.   MAKE A GIFT TO YOUR COMMUNITY – HELP MAKE THE PACIFIC CITY PARTK A REALITY AND HELP SUPPORT THE SUMMER SCIENCE CAMP –  It is Tax Deductible.

Who are we?  Nestucca Valley Community Alliance (NVCA) is an all volunteer non-profit organization bringing educational and recreational opportunities to the community.

What are we doing?  In the past year we have signed a 49 year lease with TLW for 2.4 acre community park;  we built a fence and cleared the property – next we are hiring a designer for the play ground and skate board sections of the park.

We also partnered with Nestucca Valley Elementary School and held a 3 week science camp in July,  and put on programs for kite building, as well as birds of prey during spring break.  You can HELP SUPPORT  science education for South county.

How can you help?  By making a tax deductible donation your contribution will be doubled by a matching pledge.  So for each $1 you donate to NVCA an additional $1 will be matched by a local donor.  NVCA will get $2 and your out of pocket cost will be only $0.65 after your tax deduction.  (Consult with your tax advisor)
