Designed to showcase the potential of the Community Park, the Open House will feature “Touch-a-Truck” fun where kids can climb and explore community vehicles like a police cruiser, heavy equipment rigs, dory boats and more…….

There will be a free family style picnic and BBQ with hot dogs (courtesy of Ben & Jeff’s) as well as Tillamook Ice Cream and a Caramel Corn Food Truck.  Also – Visitors will be entered in a chance to win one of two raffle door prizes.

The Community Arts Projects will also host a creative, fun kids art activity on site.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to see all the possibilities of the community park planned for this amazing space.  The Open House will display how the park will be designed and future locations of the playground, amphitheater, picnic areas and other features.

Significant Success for the Park in 2017

NVCA is excited to report to you that we have made some significant progress on the Park in 2016 and 2017.  We …….

  • Received a TLT grant of to develop the gravel parking lot at the entrance of the park property.
  • Contracted with HHPR for the landscape engineering and Earthworks (a local contractor) for construction of the parking lot
  • Were awarded a grant from Trust Management Services LLC (TMS) for the fifth annual and very successful Science Camp in 2017
  • Were given a grant from Tillamook Public Utility District (TPUD) to install a radio controller gate providing security and emergency vehicle access to the park 24/7.
  • Opened and operated a functional parking lot to help relieve the parking hassle for visitors and residents at Cape Kiwanda
  • Earned approximately $3,000 from parking proceeds with the lot operation.

We are on our way – and in 2018 will aggressively pursue grants to fund a children’s playground, picnic benches, trash and restroom facilities for the park.  We plan on an Open House for the park where visitors and residents alike can tour the park property, study the drawings and see that the community park is on its way.  Watch for future announcements.

Please donate your time or dollars to keep the momentum going.

We need your continuing support so, please visit the website at www.nestuccca.org  to volunteer and/or donate to this worthy cause.    Mail donations to PO Box 253, Pacific City, Oregon 971235.

NVCA Parking Area Makes a Difference

Another successful Dory Days has come and gone.   This time however, NVCA’s parking area was open for the additional parking.

This has made a difference.   People started filling the lot at about 11:30 am on Saturday and there were at least 60 cars that parked in the lot during the day.   On Sunday parking traffic was little less about 35 cars.   The parking area was opened between 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.   NVCA has purchased and installed Overflow parking signs at the Cape to direct folks to the new parking area and this has directed folks to the parking lot.

NVCA is asking donations for the parking and we did make a couple hundred dollars over the weekend.   Donations are on the honor system and are placed in a lock box as there is no attendant at the park during the day.

Overall NVCA parking has made an impact for the community by reducing parking on Cape Kiwanda Drive by some 150 cars over the past few weekends.

But WE NEED HELP!     To keep the parking lot open on the weekends we need folks to open the gate at about 10:30 – 11:00 am and put out the parking signs.   This should take no more than 30 minutes.   Also we need people to close and lock the gate at 7:00 pm.  Again – this should take 30 minutes or less.

Would you like to help?   Just sign up for an available time on the “Doodle” Calendar .   Send a message on nvcainfo@gmail.com indicating your willingness to take on one of the time periods on Doodle.  An NVCA board member will send you the opening instructions.

Note – if we do not have volunteers to close the gate at 7:00 pm  – we will not open the parking lot for the day.   We need volunteers not only to Open but also to Close.   It can be different people but there needs to be volunteers for both time periods.   So,  please select a time that is convenient for you and also helps complete a full day for the parking lot.

Still have questions.  Contact us at nvcainfo@gmail.com. Also check out the NVCA website.
